Lasang Pinoy 15: Recycled, Reloaded! [EGG FOO YONG]
This is my first attempt at food blogging. This is also my entry to the current Lasang Pinoy Food Blogging Event [ 15th Edition ] hosted by Mike at Lafang, and it talks about recycling leftover food or ingredients and resurrecting them into new delectable culinary treats . . .
A THAI FOOD EXPERIENCE
And God made Egg Foo Yong.
A food this sumptuous out of the ordinary and at that, leftovers must be the hand-made of God. But my God is a humble Thai with her life poured on passion to cook dishes.
With her around, there is absolutely nothing to worry about. One day everybody went out except the two of us. So it’s a bit tiring if she would still prepare a dish for us both . . . Without further asking her of what to eat, she grabbed the giniling [ minced pork ] of last night’s dinner and eggs.
It’s as fast as my heart beat when all of a sudden she beat the eggs and then prepared the pan and a moment later, everything is done and served at the table.

When asked her how its done, she simply smiled and told me: “its just like scrambled eggs. I just put the giniling and that’s it.” My inquisition did not end there. On how did it become like a pizza thing . . . Her answer is another brief explanation: “it depends on the pan.”
There . . . her answers are also as mysterious as God’s when giving a solution. Fed and energized, I just closed my eyes and in fleeting silence, smiled and thanked God.
Lasang Pinoy, which could mean ‘tastes of something Filipino’ or short for ‘the Filipino taste’ is a monthly food blogging event to promote Filipino food. It is a product of e-mail brainstorming sessions of several Filipino food bloggers who thought it was time for a Filipino event in the tradition of Is My Blog Burning. The blogger organisers of Lasang Pinoy and participants strive to make the events reflective of Filipino culture.
